Re: Organization of New York State Management/Confidential Employees, Inc.
Dear Governor Cuomo:
Congratulations on your election as Governor of our great State. I am the President of the Organization of New York State Management/Confidential Employees, Inc. (“OMCE”). Our organization represents the interests of thousands of managerial and confidential employees concerning the terms and conditions of their New York State employment. While we too believe in leading by example, as you may know, our members, unlike our unionized co-workers, have not received any raises for the last two fiscal years due to salary withholding actions taken by the prior administration.
We realize that New York is in the midst of a difficult fiscal environment. We also realize that you, as Governor, are tasked to address the State’s fiscal concerns. We simply request an opportunity to meet with you and to have a “seat at the table” as you make decisions which will impact the State workforce. Perhaps we can offer sensible alternatives to layoffs and other painful measures which may be under your consideration.
It is our sincere wish to work with you during these challenging times to protect the hard working State employees we represent and, at the same time, help you to restore New York’s fiscal health and provide the services needed by the people of New York. Thank you for your consideration of our request to meet, and cooperatively work with you and your administration. We look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Sincerely,
Barbara Zaron
President
